Family consultation takes into account all the members of a family, the links that exist between them and the context of life in which they find themselves. It makes it possible to restore or improve communication within the family as well as to mobilize the family's resources to enable them to find efficient and lasting solutions that suit them.
When to consult?
- A crisis or an event can shake a whole family (loss of home, accident, death, illness, etc.)
- Suffering in one of its members can have an impact on the whole family (depression, phobia, suicide attempt, psychological disorders, etc.)
Duration and frequency of follow-up: 45 minutes to one hour, once a week or every two weeks as needed. Unlike family therapy, family consultations do not exceed a few months of follow-up.
Method: In family consultation it is the word that takes precedence; however, mediations such as role play can help family members to shift their focus from their role in the family and approach the problem from different points of view.
Course of the sessions: The sessions in the family consultation are based on the exchange with the professional on everyday subjects (children's arguments, learning difficulties, etc.) the difficulty of communication between members of the family, on the search for autonomy of children and the relationship between generations, etc.
The therapy we practice takes into account the psychological suffering of the individual in relation to those around him (eg family, friends, work team). Thus, if, through individual therapy, we come to the conclusion that the symptom is the expression of a family dynamic in difficulty, we are committed to providing family support while keeping the secret and confidentiality shared with you.
